Drawing on his years of experience at the EPA as acting general counsel and principal deputy general counsel, Kevin advocates to government agencies and delivers results on behalf of his clients. His strategic guidance in complex matters related to clean air, climate, clean water, pesticides, potentially toxic substances, and hazardous materials proves invaluable to clients attempting to navigate unfamiliar government agencies and regulations. Clients rely on Kevin’s unique insight, creativity, and inside knowledge to find solutions that are consistent with the clients’ business. Kevin leads Alston & Bird’s Environment, Land Use & Natural Resources Washington, D.C. team, and is a member of the firm’s ESG, Cryptocurrency, and COVID-19 Response & Relief teams.
Kevin spent 18 years with the Environmental Protection Agency, ultimately holding the highest-ranking career attorney position at the agency. Kevin has substantial experience with environmental laws and the regulations that implement them, and he has had extensive involvement with litigation at all levels of the court system, including several matters before the Supreme Court. Through the knowledge, relationships, and experience he gained during his tenure at the EPA, Kevin effectively represents and advocates on behalf of clients before the EPA, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, the White House, and other federal and state government agencies.
