Practice Areas
Katie Jorrie specializes in policies, regulations, and commercial transactions in the energy industry. She advises clients on the impact of new developments and emerging technologies on energy generation, transmission, and distribution. The rapidly evolving and highly variable energy and environmental sectors make growth and compliance enormously difficult for clients, and Katie understands this. As a former clerk for the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Administrative Law Judge Division, she has a multilateral understanding of CPUC processes and proclivities, and she often represents clients in state regulatory matters. Katie's work on regulatory compliance at the state level (CPUC, CEC, CAISO) is comprehensive and includes advising on GO 167 audits and investigations, demand response, state environmental goals, resource planning, energy efficiency, ratemaking, natural gas infrastructure/rates, and wildfire liability.
Katie is similarly versed in energy-related transactions, advising clients on the financing, development, build, and operation of solar, storage, geothermal, CCGT, RNG, and distributed energy resource developments. She represents clients in key commercial transactions, including wholesale and retail energy market transactions. Her practice also includes mergers and acquisitions of special purpose entities, sales and purchases of renewable project assets, and the purchase and sale of renewable energy credits (RECs). Katie's STEM degree provides her with a uniquely informed extra-legal perspective as well as proficiency in the language of her energy clients.
