José Ignacio Ovalle

José Ignacio, partner at Barros & Errázuriz, has vast experience in the Real Estate and Telecommunications and Technology areas.

In the real estate area, José Ignacio advises important real estate and construction companies in the development of building projects, condominiums, shopping centers, offices, ports, hotels, subdivisions, among others, both in rural and urban areas; he advises on the corporate, regulatory and tax aspects of such projects; in the formation of consortiums between companies for the development and financing of these projects; as well as in litigation matters, especially in judicial and administrative actions related to urban and regulatory issues.

In the field of Telecommunications, Media and Technology, he has more than 25 years of professional experience, having participated in the most relevant matters and processes of TMT development in the country, advising important national and foreign companies on processes, such as the beginning and subsequent development in Chile of the mobile telephone, the multi-carrier system for national and international long distance, in concessions for digital mobile telephone services (PCS), in the introduction and obtaining of the first permits for satellite television services, in matters related to Internet, Information Technologies and in the matter of Protection of Personal Data, in tariff setting processes, granting of concessions, IP telephone (VoIP), among others. José Ignacio provides continuous legal advice in all kinds of regulatory matters and commercial aspects of the telecommunications and technology industry. He has also participated as an attorney in various judicial and administrative proceedings related to this industry before ordinary courts, the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications and the Comptroller General of the Republic.
