Career

José Carlos Altomari Teixeira has dedicated his nearly decade-long career to the Brazilian electricity sector, playing a key role in high-stakes deals, including the recent privatizations of energy transmission, distribution and generation companies (such as Eletrobras, CELG-D, CELG-T, CEB-D, and CEEE-T). His practice focuses on M&A, project finance and complex contracts, including a successful track record in regulatory litigation. Early in his career, he gained invaluable practical knowledge of the electricity sector (including its commercial aspects) through his secondment at electricity transmission and generation companies. In recent years, José Carlos has been actively engaged in implementing self-production by equivalence structures across diverse industries.
