Jonathan Shapiro’s practice focuses on business and securities litigation and the defense of government enforcement actions. A Department Chair for the firm’s California Litigation group, Jonathan has successfully litigated – including a winning trial record -- a wide array of consumer and business practices class actions, challenges to corporate transactions and governance, fraud and fiduciary duty cases, and commercial and contractual disputes. He has succeeded for clients, including public and financial services companies, officers and directors, special board committees, and investment bankers across technology, life sciences and financial services industries, against more than four dozen investor class and derivative actions alleging federal securities fraud, improper accounting, director and office malfeasance and insider trading. He also conducts internal investigations and has defended issuers and registrants in many parallel enforcement actions by the SEC, DOJ, FINRA, and other national and state regulators and agencies.
