Career

Mr. Sigurðsson has over 15-year experience within the financial industry, first as the General Counsel and Compliance Officer of Icebank and then as General Counsel and Compliance Officer at MP bank hf. (now Kvika bank hf.). Moreover, Mr. Sigurðsson also worked from 2011 to 2014 as Head of Corporate Development at MP bank, leading mergers, acquisitions, disposals, funding and joint ventures for the bank.

Mr. Sigurðsson has served as board member for a number of Icelandic and international companies.

In 2020 Mr. Sigurðsson was appointed as a deputy member to the Insurance Complaints Committee by the Consumer´s Association in Iceland and in 2022 Mr. Sigurðsson was re-appointed as a member in the Complaints Committee on Transactions with Financial Firms, having been on the Committee during his work within the financial industry.

Furthermore, in 2021, Sigurðsson was nominated to the board of the Travel Insurance Guarantee Fund, new insolvency protection fund established by the government, for refund in the event of insolvency by a travel organizer (see EU Directive 2015/2302).
