Securities Litigation Expertise:
Early in her career, Jessica played a leading role in defending the embattled blood-testing technology company, Theranos, in numerous investor class actions. Despite the odds, Jessica and her team successfully defeated numerous investors’ attempts to certify class actions against the company. Since then, she has leveraged her securities law and corporate governance expertise to handle disputes involving shareholder derivative claims, regulatory actions and governance challenges.
Jessica has extensive experience with Delaware law, addressing mergers-related challenges and governance disputes in the country’s most prominent corporate law jurisdiction.
Complex Class Action Expertise and Trial Advocacy:
Jessica’s practice extends to managing complex class actions, including cases involving claims under RICO, California’s Unfair Competition Law (UCL), federal securities laws and state consumer protection statutes.
Her trial-readiness is a cornerstone of her practice. Early in her career, Jessica served as a Special Assistant District Attorney, where she first-chaired 15 trials and over a dozen hearings, gaining invaluable courtroom experience. Since then, Jessica’s ability to craft compelling narratives, manage intricate procedural hurdles and collaborate effectively with trial teams has consistently delivered favorable outcomes for her clients in class actions, securities disputes and regulatory enforcement matters.
Commitment to Pro Bono:
Jessica has played a pivotal role in landmark initiatives, including an extraordinary writ petition challenging California’s death penalty under the state’s Equal Protection guarantees.
Jessica has also achieved meaningful outcomes in individual pro bono cases, including securing a rare jury verdict with punitive damages in a First Amendment retaliation case.
