Career

Jared Sorin is a partner in Brown Rudnick's Transactions Practice Group and a co-practice group leader of the firm's Emerging Growth Companies & Venture Capital group. Jared represents start-up, early-stage and emerging-growth companies, as well as the investors who support them. He advises entrepreneurial clients in a broad range of technology-driven industries regarding general corporate, finance (including, private equity and venture capital), and other transactional matters, including choice of business entity, securities law compliance, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, and strategic alliances. His investor clients include angel investors, family offices, venture capital funds, and other private equity firms regarding their investments in early-stage and emerging-growth companies.

In addition to his client service, Jared is committed to the emerging companies and venture capital markets and is recognized as an industry thought leader. Jared frequently speaks on topics of interest to the entrepreneurial and venture communities. He serves as a mentor and advisor for various accelerator, incubator, and entrepreneurial networking groups, including, among others, the Institute for Life Science Entrepreneurship (ILSE) at Kean University, the NYU Startup School, the NYU Summer Launchpad Accelerator Program, Mount Sinai Innovation Partners, Atlantic Health Venture Studio, and Young Jewish Professionals. Jared also is a member of the Board of Advisors of TechUnited, a nonprofit organization that supports the technology and life science industries in New Jersey. In addition, in 2016, he cofounded an accelerator program for idea-stage startup companies in New York and New Jersey, characterized by a unique system of cross-equity ownership designed to foster collaboration and community among the accelerator’s portfolio companies. Jared also helped to cofound a venture capital fund focused on investing in early-stage and emerging growth companies in New York and New Jersey and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region that have demonstrated early traction in a wide variety of tech and tech-enabled industry sectors, such as artificial and augmented intelligence, virtual reality, fintech, teltech, and climate tech.
