Career
Gustavo Binenbojm is a Brazilian scholar, professor of Administrative Law at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro Law School – UERJ (2015), with an LL.M degree from Yale Law School (2003). Binenbojm achieved his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (1994), where he also obtained the academic titles of Master in Public Law (2000) and Doctor in Public Law (2006).
After earning his Law Degree, Binenbojm became an associate and then a partner at the law firm of Luis Roberto Barroso, a current Justice in the Brazilian Supreme Court. In 2003, he started his own practice. Since then, Binenbojm consolidated himself as a lawyer with strong presence in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and as a renowned issuer of legal opinions in the area of Public Law.
Among his activities as a lawyer, he represents the biggest media conglomerate of Brazil (Grupo Globo) and relevant representative entities of TV stations, newspapers and magazines (ABERT, ANJ e ANER). Binenbojm acted in historical actions before the STF, such as the one that allowed the publication of non-authorized biographies (books and movies); the one that allowed political comedy and press criticism during the election period; and the one that ended the need for mandatory content rating for the schedule of TV programs and public spectacles.
