Work Highlights
Pets on Divorce is a pioneering working group co-founded by solicitor Estella Newbold-Brown and barrister Sarah Lucy Cooper. Since late 2024, the group has brought together over 20 professionals—including lawyers, barristers, veterinarians, and animal behaviourists—to advocate for legal reform that recognises pets as more than mere property in divorce proceedings.
On 3 April 2025, the group was invited to meet in the House of Lords, following Baroness Berridge’s public recognition of the campaign during a debate on prenuptial agreements earlier in the year.
Their work includes collaborating with organisations such as the Kennel Club and the RSPCA, conducting international comparative legal research, and developing guidance designed to place greater emphasis on pet welfare in separation arrangements.
