Eric has more than two decades practicing law, focusing on Commercial Arbitration, locally and internationally, with emphasis on Construction, Energy, Purchase-Sales, Distribution, Public Concessions, Banking and Finance, Insolvency and Bankruptcy, among others.
Career
Eric Britton has served as legal counsel and arbitrator in multiple mediation processes based on the rules set by Arbitration centers such as the centers of the Panamanian Chamber of Commerce, the Panamanian Chamber of Construction, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), UNCITRAL, and CIADI. He is widely recognized as specialist in issues related to commercial arbitration and construction law, which has led him to speak at many local and international conferences and to participate as panel member at congresses organized in Panama by the Center for Conflict Resolution (CESCON).
Eric also provides counseling to foreign clients regarding how to best establish their investments in Panama, in terms of drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts and agreements for different commercial sectors.
He has an LL. B degree from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencias y Tecnologia (Panama, 1996), and a LL.M in Maritime Law from the University of Tulane (USA, 1997). He took advanced studies in Maritime Arbitration at the Aegean Institute of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law (Rhodes, Greece, 1998), and specialized studies in Contract Law at the Universidad de Externado de Colombia (Colombia, 2007-2008), as well as Specializing in Construction Law at Cambridge University (UK, 2014). He also holds a license to practice law in the Republic of Colombia, issued by the Colombia’s Supreme Council of the Judiciary.
