BRIG’s Dispute Resolution department is a highly specialized practice with a strong track record in complex commercial, construction, infrastructure, energy, banking, corporate and public law disputes. The team represents Panamanian and international clients in high-stakes litigation, domestic and international arbitration, administrative proceedings, insolvency-related matters, reorganizations, settlement negotiations and enforcement actions.
The department regularly handles disputes involving breach of contract, damages, shareholder conflicts, construction and infrastructure projects, State contracts, public procurement, regulatory matters, interim measures and the enforcement of contractual and arbitral rights. Its arbitration experience includes proceedings under leading institutional and ad hoc rules, including ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, the Panama Chamber of Commerce arbitration centre (CeCAP), the Panama Chamber of Construction arbitration centre (CESCON), and other regional forums.
BRIG’s lawyers combine courtroom experience, arbitral expertise and industry knowledge, and are also appointed or requested to act as arbitrators, mediators, dispute board members and experts. The team is active in Panama’s main legal and business associations, including the ICC Panama Chapter, construction law associations, arbitration and mediation centres, insolvency initiatives and other organizations connected to Panama’s commercial and infrastructure sectors.
