Enrique focuses his practice on complex civil and commercial litigation, insurance and reinsurance disputes, banking litigation, commercial arbitration, administrative litigation and constitutional proceedings (amparo).
He also advises clients on civil liability, contractual disputes, the enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards, insolvency-related disputes, preventive litigation strategies, coverage analysis and legal risk assessments.
Enrique Tamez is a senior associate at De la Garza & Acosta Abogados, which he joined in 2022. He has more than ten years of experience advising and representing domestic and international clients in complex disputes before Mexican federal and state courts.
Before joining De la Garza & Acosta, Enrique practised at Santamarina y Steta, MartÃnez, Algaba, De Haro y Curiel and De Hoyos & Avilés. His previous experience includes civil, commercial and administrative litigation, commercial arbitration, constitutional proceedings, corporate advisory work and dispute-prevention strategies.
Since 2024, Enrique has also served as a lecturer at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he has taught Civil and Commercial Procedure, Dispute Resolution and General Theory of Procedure. Early in his career, he completed a legislative internship at the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Enrique has more than ten years of experience in high-stakes dispute resolution. He represents domestic and international insurers, banks, financial institutions, public entities and industrial companies in civil and commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, insolvency proceedings, administrative disputes and constitutional proceedings.
His practice covers insurance coverage and policy interpretation, life and health claims, property losses, civil liability, moral and punitive damages, banking transactions, contractual disputes, enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards, and insolvency-related claims.
Enrique is regularly involved in defining case strategy, drafting claims and defences, preparing appeals and amparo proceedings, coordinating documentary and expert evidence, participating in hearings and conducting settlement negotiations. He also prepares legal opinions, risk assessments and preventive strategies designed to identify and mitigate potential disputes before litigation arises.
His insurance work includes advising on coverage, exclusions, eligibility, policy validity, claims handling and the legal basis for accepting or rejecting claims under Mexican insurance legislation and the applicable policy terms.
