Emma is the head of the clinical negligence team. She is a highly skilled advocate who was awarded Outstanding Achievement of the Year at the Personal Injury Awards 2018.
During her career she's dealt with a wide variety of complex and high-value claims include securing compensation for those who suffered as the result of delays in diagnosis of cancer, amputations and injuries during birth.
Emma was the lead solicitor in the Paterson litigation. In 2017, she successfully negotiated a £37 million global landmark settlement, encompassing over 750 claims and made provision for recovery of compensation for future claimants. Paterson’s patients treated in the NHS have long since been compensated and Emma has been instrumental in ensuring private patients also achieved justice, and bringing the issue of private sector regulation and patient safety to the forefront of media attention.
In July 2021, Emma was asked to manage the second fund set up by Spire to allow a further cohort of patients affected by Paterson’s treatment to be compensated.
Emma qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and joined Slater and Gordon in 2013.
Emma is a Solicitor-Advocate, accredited by the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel and by APIL as a Senior Litigator.
