Eldar Ben-Ruby is a partner and the practice group leader of the firm’s Taxation Department.
Eldar specializes in taxation (primarily international taxation) issues and the formation of investment funds. Over the last 30 years, Eldar has been involved in most of Israel’s major corporate transactions, and he has a great deal of experience in tax planning and structuring for inbound M&A transactions, as well as structuring outbound transactions for Israeli clients. Eldar has designed tax structures for international investors in Israeli projects and JVs, usually acting in tandem with their local tax counsel and accountants.
Eldar provides ongoing tax advice on diverse issues to numerous Israeli and international clients.
In addition, Eldar has represented many of Israel’s leading venture capital, private equity, real estate and hedge funds (including funds that are active in primary and secondary markets).
Eldar has been recognized as one of the leading tax experts in Israel, and he is frequently ranked by independent guides such as Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and The Tax Directors Handbook as a leading individual in his fields. Eldar is an active member of the tax committees of both the Israel Bar Association and the Israeli Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a tax lecturer at Tel-Aviv University School of Law and a speaker at many professional forums. Eldar deals on a regular basis with the issues that are at the forefront of the tax profession. Most notably, over the last 15 years, Eldar has headed the tax committee of the IATI (the Israeli Advanced Technology Industries association, which is the representative organization of the Israeli hi-tech industry). In this capacity, Eldar leads a team of tax experts from top law and accounting firms to advise the Israel Tax Authority about the key pressing tax issues facing the industry, and to propose policy changes and legislation to address these issues.
Lastly, Eldar’s experience and broad knowledge, as well as his personal skills, allow him to play a pivotal role in structuring many intergenerational wealth transfer arrangements for ultra-high-net-worth families.
