Elaine Tay

Elaine is a Partner in Rajah & Tann Singapore's Insurance & Reinsurance Practice.

Elaine advises and represents (re)insurers (life and general) on contentious and non-contentious matters spanning various classes of insurance. As counsel, she has successfully represented insurers in matters which resulted in landmark decisions by the Singapore High Court. She has also appeared before the Singapore Court of Appeal as lead counsel and succeeded in resisting appeals. On the regulatory front, Elaine often advises insurers and insurance intermediaries across a wide spectrum of regulatory / compliance issues. She has also assisted insurers and intermediaries in obtaining requisite licences and statutory transfers of business.

Elaine is ranked in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2024 and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024 as one of the leading lawyers in Insurance and Reinsurance, and is recommended in Best Lawyers 2024 for Insurance law. She has also achieved the Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2019 for Insurance and Reinsurance Practice.
