Declan appears in a variety of courts and tribunals.
Declan has a diverse practice which includes competition law and regulatory proceedings, commercial law, class actions, administrative law, defamation law, and family law.
He has particular expertise in competition law. In this field he has appeared in many of the leading cases in recent years, most recently in a significant class action brought against energy retailers in QLD, and in contested merger proceedings in the Australia Competition Tribunal (for the ACCC).
Before being called to the bar, Declan was a lecturer in law at the London School of Economics, and obtained his PhD in law from the Australian National University. He is also the author of a book, ‘Accountability in Restorative Justice’, published by Oxford University Press, which was awarded the British Society of Criminology book prize in 2004.
