David has years of experience advising financial institutions, private equity sponsors, corporates, non-bank lenders and sovereigns on a wide range of financing and restructuring transactions. David is a specialist in leveraged acquisition finance, project finance, real estate finance, debt capital markets, derivatives, venture capital and special situations investing. David is a finalist for Young Private Practice Lawyer of the Year at the NZ Law Awards 2020 and his expertise is recognised in all leading legal directories.
David began his career with Russell McVeagh. He returned to the firm in 2017 after extended periods based in London with Cleary Gottlieb and Hong Kong with Weil Gotshal. David has successfully completed all three levels of examinations for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme. Before returning to New Zealand, David worked on a number of global landmark financing and restructuring transactions. David has spent extended periods on secondment to banks and funds in a variety of legal and non-legal roles.
