Daniel's practice specialises in resource management and environmental litigation, and providing advice to major development projects. He is recognised as a leading environmental litigator, his expertise leading him to assist on a variety of projects including residential, retail, commercial and industrial, energy and infrastructure projects, mining and hazardous waste facilities. He works with some of New Zealand's biggest businesses such as Fonterra, Summerset and a number of significant Council organisations. Daniel has significant knowledge of environment and planning law, offering advice to clients on district and regional planning matters and legislative reform, local government matters and Public Works Act issues.
Daniel is the National Practice Group Chair for Russell McVeagh's Environment, Planning and Natural Resources Group. He was admitted to practise in 2005 and was made partner in 2016.

Daniel is a regular contributor to the Resource Management Journal and various environmental and resource management publications. He also presents at a number of conferences on resource management issues.
Daniel is the author of the Water and Minerals and Petroleum chapters in textbook Environment and Resource Management Law (7th Ed) and the Minerals and Mining chapter of the Laws of New Zealand.
