Undertaken work on a range of strategic housing, employment, retail and infrastructure applications on behalf of a number of developers, utility companies and public authorities.
Has been heavily involved in compulsory purchase schemes for highways, town centre redevelopment and the promotion of strategic housing developments. Judicial Review also represents an increasingly significant amount of his work. David was ranked 8th in the UK in the Planning Magazine Legal Survey 2017. Walton & Co were also ranked within the top 30 leading planning firms in the UK.
David is Director of Walton & Co and is a qualified solicitor. David set up the practice in September 2004 following 9yrs at Wilbraham & Co, the latter 5yrs as partner. Previously worked in public sector for 15yrs undertaking a range of major planning, highways and compensation work and became Assistant Chief Legal Officer at Leeds City Council.
Holds Diploma in Local Government Law and Practice. Legal member of RTPI and has presented papers at a number of conferences organised by RTPI. Has lectured on post-graduate diploma for Planning and Environmental Law at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Co-wrote 'Development Plans: Law and Practice' (Sweet & Maxwell).
