After graduating from the University of Sussex with a first class degree in Law and History, David was called to the English Bar in 1995. He is a Member of the Inner Temple.
David undertook pupillage at 2 Field Court (then the Chambers of Norman Palmer), and at Arden Chambers, the Chambers of Andrew Arden QC. His work at the English Bar comprised a wide range of personal injury, clinical negligence and contentious property matters.
David has over 18 years experience as an Advocate of the Royal Court. After joining Bailhache Labesse (now Appleby Global) in 1997, David was called as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in 1999. He was appointed as a Partner of the firm in 2001, becoming Managing Partner of the Appleby Global Jersey Office in 2010, before establishing his own firm in April 2013.

David sits on the Board of Examiners for the local professional examinations. He is also a member of the British Insurance Law Association.
In October 2015, David was appointed to the Senior Lawyers Panel of La Chambre de Discipline of the Guernsey Bar.
