James has a busy Jersey practice with a particular focus on contentious and non-contentious trusts. He advises, undertakes drafting work and acts for beneficiaries, trustees and other power-holders in relation to breach of trust claims, asset tracing/recovery and claims for secondary liability against accessories, issues concerning trust administration, the appointment and removal of trustees and the exercise of powers.
James joined Baker & Partners in January 2014.
James is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust & Estate Practitioners [ACTAPS], Contentious Trust Association [Contra] and the Chancery Bar Association. James is also a member of the Trust Law Working Committee of Jersey Finance that considers amendments to the Trusts (Jersey) Law 1984.
James is the author of 'Litigating Trust Disputes in Jersey: Law, Procedure & Remedies'. This substantial book is Jersey's first practitioner text dedicated exclusively to trust litigation in Jersey's courts.
