Career
Joined 4 New Square in 2008 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now King’s Counsel) in 2019.
Recognised as one of the leading commercial silks at the English Bar. He has appeared in a number of leading cases in his areas of practice both at trial and appellate level, including appearing as advocate in the Supreme Court. He also has a substantial international arbitration practice and appears frequently in cases offshore, particularly in the Caribbean.
He is also a recognised expert in sports law, with a background in elite sport, and has appeared in numerous cases of significance including before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. He also represents and advises the UK Government on a variety of complex and sensitive legal matters.
Dan is a former member of the Executive Committee of both the Commercial Bar Association and the British Association for Sport and Law.
He is a fluent French speaker and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
Originally trained as a solicitor in London at City firm Herbert Smith LLP (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and has also practised as a litigator in the British Virgin Islands for leading offshore firm Conyers Dill & Pearman (called to the BVI Bar in 2009).
