Daniel S. Melamed

A partner in Torkin Manes' Family Law Group, Daniel is an experienced, sought-after family law mediator and arbitrator.

As a mediator and arbitrator, Daniel’s warm, even-tempered and trustworthy demeanour, coupled with his extensive knowledge of the law, has assisted family law lawyers and their clients to resolve matters in a sensible, efficient and private manner. In family law matters of property, spousal and child support, Daniel leverages his experience, impartiality and compassion to equitably assist parties to resolve all manner of family law disputes, including high net worth, high conflict and multi-jurisdictional matters, as well as all child-related issues.

While Daniel’s practice has transitioned from traditional family law practice primarily into arbitration and mediation, for many years, he was Preferred Counsel to The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company, the insurance provider for Ontario lawyers, where he was regularly retained as counsel to defend family lawyers in negligence claims.

As a testament to his extensive knowledge and unimpeachable reputation at the Family Law Bar, which spans more than three decades, he was appointed as a member of the Family Rules Committee for the Province of Ontario for two consecutive terms.
