Dana Shelton has extensive experience handling contested regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Louisiana Public Service Commission, and appellate courts.
Dana has handled numerous high-stakes matters that have garnered significant energy rate savings for the ratepayers she represents. She was an integral part of the legal team that successfully petitioned the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for an unprecedented electric energy cost equalization mechanism that achieved more than $800 million in rate savings for Louisiana’s electric consumers. She has been one of the lead lawyers representing the Louisiana Public Service Commission in seeking reduced rates that are charged to consumers for power from the Grand Gulf nuclear plant.
Dana also has experience navigating the stakeholder process in regional transmission organizations, working on transmission tariffs, rulemakings, and cost allocation policy development. She has handled environmental regulatory and litigation matters, as well as commercial disputes in the areas of leasing, insurance, and products liability.
An adjunct professor teaching Energy Law and Policy at Tulane University Law School and a guest lecturer on Public Utility Regulation and Evidence Law at both Tulane University Law School and Louisiana State University Law Center, she is a regular contributor to legal education.
