Ciara has experience across a range of South African competition law matters, including merger control, cartel litigation, exemption work and market inquiries. She has worked on compliance with obligations arising from the Online Intermediation Platforms Market Inquiry and acted for clients in the recent Media and Digital Platforms Market Inquiry.

Ciara also has broader commercial litigation experience in both South Africa and the UK, and has advised on regulatory and compliance issues, including sanctions-related work.

Career

Ciara is qualified in both South Africa and England & Wales. She began her career as a legal researcher to Judge David Unterhalter at the Johannesburg High Court. She trained at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, in the competition law department. She later clerked for Justices Leona Theron and Mbuyiseli Madlanga at the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Before joining MGI in 2025, Ciara practised commercial litigation in London.
