Christopher Jenkins KC is a Partner in the Litigation, and Insolvency & Restructuring teams. Christopher's work covers the full spectrum of commercial practice, with an emphasis on insolvency advice and representation (both local and cross-border), mortgagee remedies, fraud, admiralty and shareholder disputes. He regularly appears at Supreme Court and Court of Appeal level and is accustomed to working alongside UK and US based legal, insolvency and accounting teams in cross-border matters. Christopher is a very experienced and effective advocate with an excellent success rate, and a recognised ability to distil complex legal and factual issues into concise and forceful arguments. Work Highlights
- Chester against Darby Shores Ltd. and others: Christopher represented 50% of the equity and the board of directors of a company holding group of private islands. The company is defending a shareholder oppression claim. Receivers were appointed to sell property in dispute. - Judicial management of British-American Insurance Company Limited: Christopher advised the Judicial Manager of a large insolvent regional insurance company in relation to numerous issues. The matter included the implementation of a plan of arrangement across nine Caribbean jurisdictions in 2018 and included enacting special legislation in the Bahamas and other jurisdictions. Representation has included over 40 hearings since 2009.
- Montana v Matrix. Christopher is the lead adviser and advocate of a pension fund mortgagee in realisation of assets securing a $40-million loan on an insolvent property development in the family islands of The Bahamas.
