Chris Bovell’s practice covers all aspects of banking, corporate and commercial law with a specialist practice in mining law. He has represented major mining interests in Jamaica, Governmental institutions and many large Jamaican corporations in relation to their commercial affairs. He has also in the last few years been acting in several Public Private Partnership transactions representing the Government Agency responsible for PPP’s.
Career
The breadth of his expertise and experience has qualified him to serve on the Boards of Directors of several major companies including GraceKennedy Limited and CIBC First Caribbean International Bank (Jamaica) Limited. He has also been repeatedly listed as one of the leading lawyers in Jamaica in this area of practice by Chambers and Partners Global.
Personal
Chris is a former member of the Jamaican Senate (1983-89) and served for several years as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council. He is widely known for his experience in Corporate Governance and has given presentations locally and at the Caribbean Commercial Law Workshop. He is also Chairman of Barnett Limited, a director of Hardware & Lumber Limited, and a former Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica.
