Christian has acted as counsel and arbitrator in some of the most complex international arbitrations in Latin America (ICC, ICSID, LCIA, PCA, AAA, UNCITRAL, Lima Chamber of Commerce, AMCHAM Peru, Bogota Chamber of Commerce, DAB proceedings).

Christian draws on his prior experience at the ICC International Court of Arbitration where, in his position as Managing Counsel, he supervised the nine case management teams of the ICC Secretariat. He previously held the position of Counsel in charge of the Latin America, Spain and Portugal case management team.

Christian is a member of the Paris and Buenos Aires Bars and is recognized by Chambers & Partners in the category of International Counsel in International Arbitration for Latin America-wide since 2021, and as Most in Demand Arbitrator, Band 1, since 2025. He is also recognized as a “Thought Global Leader” by Who’s Who Legal Arbitration since 2022.

> Enagás: lead counsel in an ICSID arbitration against Peru related to the termination of the concession for the construction of the biggest pipeline in South America.

> Enagás: lead counsel in an ICSID case against Peru related to the restriction imposed by the Government for the transfer of dividends abroad.

> HSBC: lead counsel in an ICSID case against El Salvador related to a claim for denial of justice.

> European logistic corporation: lead counsel in an investment dispute against a South American State related to the breach of an umbrella clause under the applicable investment treaty.

> European energy group: lead counsel in an investment dispute against a South American State in relation to the change of the marginalist system in the energy market.

> Dominican Republic: lead counsel in an ICSID arbitration arising out of the DR-CAFTA in relation to a contract for the supply of asphalt cement.

> Dominican Republic: lead counsel in a PCA arbitration arising out of an investment treaty relative to the provision of bus services in the capital city.

> Republic of Colombia: lead counsel in an ICSID arbitration arising out of an investment treaty relative to the construction and maintenance of toll roads.

> Republic of Colombia: lead counsel in the ICSID annulment proceedings of an award related to a mining concession.

> Pakistan: lead counsel in the ICSID annulment proceedings of a multi-billion-dollar award.

Commercial arbitration

> A subsidiary of Total: counsel in a UNCITRAL arbitration in Stockholm brought by two regions of the Russian Federation relating to an agreement for oil exploration in Russia dating from the early 1990s. The matter also involved related court litigation in France and in Sweden.

> A major U.S. corporation: lead counsel in three ICC arbitrations, one emergency arbitration and related New York court litigation for a dispute for the construction of a US$3bn hydropower complex in Chile.

> A major French company: lead counsel in an ICC arbitration and state court proceedings related to the termination of an EPC contract relative to the construction of an LNG terminal in Montevideo’s port.

> A Chinese bank: lead counsel in an ICC arbitration related to a post-acquisition dispute of a bank in Brazil.

> A Brazilian oil company: lead counsel in an ICC arbitration seated in New York, arising out of a joint operation agreement for the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas in Brazil.

> A major Spanish company: lead counsel in two parallel arbitrations before the Lima Chamber of Commerce relative to a shareholder agreement.

> A Chilean company: lead counsel in an ICC emergency arbitration and in two ICC arbitrations brought by international engineering companies in relation to an EPC contract for a power plant in Chile.

> A Spanish company: counsel in an ICC arbitration against Mauritania for the construction and equipping of a plant for enrichment of iron ore magnetite.

> A Chinese port company: counsel in an ICC arbitration over a dispute concerning the construction of a port terminal in Brazil.

> A Brazilian-Portuguese infrastructure consortium: advising as counsel in an UNCITRAL arbitration against Cameroon in relation to the construction of a main road.

> A Mexican aluminum company: advising as counsel in an AAA arbitration related to the supply of aluminum.

> A Spanish construction company: counsel in a CCBC arbitration against a Brazilian public entity in relation to the construction of a road in Bahia.

> A major French energy group: lead counsel on a US$350m photovoltaic plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, in an ICC Dispute Adjudication Board process with the EPC contractor for claims related to time extensions, variation orders, force majeure and defects in the solar modules.

> A major French energy group: lead counsel on various claims against an EPC contractor in relation to a power plant in Antofagasta, Chile. The dispute included claims for additional costs and expenses, requests for extension of time, warranty claims, liquidated damages and global claims.

> A leading Brazilian company: lead counsel in the construction sector in relation to a dispute with its supplier over the transfer of risk over certain equipment.

> Mexican aluminium: lead counsel in an ICDR arbitration against the supplier of aluminium in relation to an aluminium supply contract under Texas law.

> A European insurance company: lead counsel in an arbitration before the Bogota Chamber of Commerce relative to a services agreement with a Panamanian entity.

> Western European insurance companies: lead counsel in an ICC arbitration and parallel proceedings before state courts filed by an Eastern European company over the alleged unlawful termination of an SPA.
