Chawaluck Sivayathorn Araneta is the Managing Partner of Thanathip & Partners and one of Thailand’s most respected Corporate/M&A practitioners. With more than 20 years of experience advising on complex, high-value transactions, she has been central to the firm’s growth and reputation since its establishment in 2005.
Chawaluck advises leading Thai corporates and international investors on strategic mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and capital markets matters. Her long-standing client relationships — including with Allianz SE, DKSH (Thailand), Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, RS Group and LH Mall & Hotel — reflect the trust she has earned across multiple industries.
She has acted on many prominent Thai transactions, such as RS’s acquisition of Chase Asia; Allianz SE’s acquisition of Sri Ayudhya General Insurance; RATCH Group’s investment in Principal Capital; nationwide hospital acquisitions for Bangkok Dusit Medical Services; BNP Paribas’s sale of BNP Securities Thailand to CIMB; FIDF’s divestment of BankThai; Siam Makro’s acquisition and restructuring of Siam Food Services and Makro Office; the business combination and listing of B2S, Office Mate and Office Depot; and Supersports’ acquisition of Rev Runnr Co., Ltd.
Chawaluck also regularly advises on cross-border joint ventures involving foreign investors, including mandates for Sumitomo Corporation and Kaset Thai International Sugar; TOENEC Corporation and Tri-En Solutions; and Bangkok Aviation Centre and its international partner.
Beyond her transactional practice, she plays an active role in Thailand’s corporate governance and legal education landscape. She serves as an independent director and audit and corporate governance committee member of a SET-listed company, and she lectures on capital markets and M&A at Chulalongkorn and Thammasat Universities. She is also a frequent speaker at industry training programmes.
Chawaluck leads the firm’s pro bono and CSR initiatives, including its engagement with TrustLaw, through which she has supported organisations such as the Thai Child Development Foundation and Steps with Theera. She is currently spearheading a firm-wide programme supporting a local school in Nakhon Pathom.
She is recognised by leading legal directories, including IFLR1000 (“Highly Regarded”) and Chambers Asia-Pacific (Band 4), and was shortlisted for Managing Partner of the Year (Emerging Markets) at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2025.
