Practice Areas
Charif El-Khouri is a partner in the Employment & Labour Group. Day-to-day advisor, litigator, investigator and transactional lawyer, Charif brings a unique set of broad and deep expertise in advancing the interests of his clients.
Charif’s practice focuses on advising unionized and non-unionized companies across a wide range of industries, including technology, health services, medical devices, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and distribution. He is a trusted advisor to businesses, offering results-oriented and practical guidance on the day-to-day management of their workforce.
Charif’s work spans all aspects of employment law, from employment agreements and policies relating to compensation, incentive plans, privacy and personal information protection, to non-competition and other restrictive covenants, to French language requirements, to occupational health and safety and human rights and reasonable accommodation.
In addition to his advisory work, Charif has extensive experience providing employment and labour law support for both public and private clients in the context of purchase and sale transactions, including distressed M&A.
As a seasoned litigator, Charif regularly represents employers in cases involving wrongful termination, human rights, labour standards, workers’ compensation and other suits or claims before administrative tribunals and civil courts. He is efficient at achieving early and cost effective amicable resolutions of complaints, but steadfast in zealously fighting for his client’s interests before courts and tribunals when necessary.
Charif often acts for clients in strategic and high stakes litigation, including executive employment matters as well as injunctions and restrictive covenants litigation (such as non-competes). He also regularly advises clients on managing sensitive investigations and terminations, including allegations related to executives.
Charif supports clients in conducting internal investigations into misconduct, harassment and other workplace matters, and is also an experienced certified investigator in his own right, having conducted a number of investigations into strategic matters or those involving executive misconduct.
