Bram Devlies, attorney at law, is a counsel of the Energy & Infrastructure team in our office in Belgium.

Bram specialises in energy contracts, energy regulation, and energy project work, with a particular focus on renewable energy projects such as solar/PV, onshore and offshore wind, district heating, and biomass/biosteam.

He also works extensively on energy storage, especially battery projects, and other security of supply aspects (including capacity mechanisms and strategic reserves). Additionally, his expertise covers grid tariffs, subsidy mechanisms (such as green energy certificates), production and supply licenses, and various agreements, including corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, route-to-market agreements, turbine supply agreements, and FIDIC agreements.

Bram is a member of the editorial board of "Tijdschrift Milieu- en Energierecht," Belgium’s leading energy law journal, and is a sought-after speaker at energy conferences in Belgium, the UK, and the Netherlands. He regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals on energy law topics.

Bram is recognised by Legal500 as a "rising star" and by Chambers Europe as an "associate to watch". Clients describe him as "demonstrating full skill on the matters", "being accurate in his work", and being a "key name for power purchase agreements, onshore renewable energy projects, and advice on renewable energy certificates". Clients also note "that he is one of the very few lawyers with a practice in assisting newer technologies such as battery storage projects with their contracting".
