Bertold Bär-Bouyssière is Of Counsel in Dentons’ Brussels and Berlin offices and a member of the Competition and Antitrust practice group.
With close to 30 years of practice, Bertold is one of the leading advisors in EU and German competition law including State aid and competition policy. A senior member of the “EU Brussels bubble”, Bertold combines legal skills with insights into competition policy dynamics to offer clients sustainable strategic antitrust solutions.
Bertold’s skills range over all areas of antitrust and a large number of sectors. Geographically, the core of his focus includes the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa. Most of his frequent thought leadership publications including on sustainability, written in English, French and German are available on the internet. He authors one of Germany´s leading State aid commentary (in J. Schwarze´s EU-Kommentar). A long-time Co-Chair of AmCham EU’s Competition Policy Committee, Executive member of the Belgian-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce, Bertold recently participated in an inter-governmental conference on economic intelligence in Djerba hosted by the African Centre for Competitive Intelligence.
Bertold provides pro bono legal assistance to EURORDIS. With his family, Bertold has been financially sponsoring the education of two Ethiopian children on an ongoing basis since 2002.
