Using his background in law and policy, Benjamin Kostrzewa works in Hong Kong office, providing guidance to clients navigating the dynamic landscape of international trade and geopolitical risk, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region He previously served as assistant general counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), where he worked on US-China bilateral issues, World Trade Organization disputes, and negotiating free trade agreements.

Ben’s experience at the USTR and his in-depth knowledge of the Greater China market uniquely position him to support his global clients across a broad spectrum of trade issues, including compliance with cross-border export controls and sanctions investigations, tariff and customs issues, sanctions and export control risk management in Hong Kong IPOs, and managing geopolitical risk. He represents global clients before the Hong Kong Exchange, USTR, the Departments of Commerce, State, and Treasury, the International Trade Commission, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

He studied Chinese and Chinese law at the prestigious Peking University in China. In addition to his advisory role, Benjamin is frequently sought after for speaking engagements at international trade events in both the United States and Asia, and he is a regular contributor to international media outlets such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The South China Morning Post, and Bloomberg.
