Practice Areas
Andrew is a Partner and the Head of our Projects, Energy and Mining practice in Japan. He is also the Asia Head of Corporate and Managing Partner of our Tokyo office.
Andrew is an expert in the oil & and gas, LNG, metals and mining and conventional power sectors, with a career spanning over 20 years and with over 14 years' experience advising on-the-ground in Japan. He is valued by clients for being at the forefront of changes in the energy transition sector, including decarbonisation, electrification, sustainable energy and ESG, and his ability to anticipate client needs in the rapidly evolving shift towards sustainable energy solutions. He is a highly experienced transactional lawyer, specialising in M&A and development projects in these sectors. He regularly represents Japanese trading houses, oil and gas companies and public utilities on world-scale energy projects in many jurisdictions.
Career
He graduated with a bachelor of laws from the University of Durham and is admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and in England & Wales. He is also licensed to advise as a Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi (Registered Foreign Lawyer) in Japan.
