Amanda Jones is a partner at Thompsons Solicitors and a highly respected solicitor specialising in asbestos-related diseases.
She represents clients from all over Wales and the South West, most of whom are suffering from mesothelioma, an invariably fatal condition resulting from exposure to asbestos, often decades previously. Amanda not only represents men who have held industrial jobs, but many women who have contracted mesothelioma by handling the working clothes of family members.
Many of the claims are highly complex, especially in cases where the companies concerned no long exist. However Amanda has a UK-wide reputation for tracking down defendants and winning the compensation her clients deserve in a timely manner.
Career
Having joined Thompsons in 2004, Amanda is now a partner. As well as taking her own caseload, Amanda also supervises the work of other lawyers in Thompsons' Bristol, Cardiff and Llanelli offices.
Amanda actively supports Mesothelioma UK, Asbestos Awareness & Support Cymru and the South West Asbestos Support & Awareness Group. She has been a guest speaker at annual training days organised for senior medical practitioners in Wales.
The Wales asbestos team headed by Amanda won South Wales Law Awards Personal Injury Law Services of the year in May 2022.
In December 2023, Amanda spoke at the Houses of Parliament on the importance of removing asbestos from public buildings, calling on her decades of experience in the field of asbestos litigation.

Personal
Amanda’s expertise is renowned beyond the legal profession and she has been a guest speaker at annual training sessions for senior doctors in Wales. She is a supporter of Mesothelioma UK, Asbestos Awareness & Support Cymru and South West Asbestos Support and Guidance.
Outside work Amanda spends most of her spare time at the side of a football or rugby pitch supporting her sons who are keen athletes. She is also a governor of Coedcae Comprehensive School in Llanelli.
Amanda was shortlisted for 'Claimant Lawyer of the Year' in the 13th Personal Injury Awards by Claims Media.
Work Highlights
Secured a six-figure sum for a man who developed mesothelioma decades after working at Uskmouth Power Station, acting through a court-approved friend as the man was suffering from advanced dementia at the time of the case.
Settled the case of a woman who developed mesothelioma after she was exposed to asbestos when washing the overalls of her husband who worked as a cleaner at Devonport Dockyard, securing a six-figure settlement.
Secured more than £500,000 in compensation for a man diagnosed with mesothelioma, decades after being exposed to asbestos while working at Pembroke Power Station, recovering damages which took into account the man's plans to work well beyond retirement age.
