Practice Areas
Alison specialises in complex public and private law cases. Alison is particularly experienced in cases concerning alleged non-accidental injury and sexual abuse requiring cross-examination of experts giving complex medical evidence. Alison is highly experienced in Wardship and the creative use of the Inherent Jurisdiction, including DoLs orders. Alison regularly appears in cases against KCs.
Alison is the representative for family law on the Bar Council Law Reform Committee and is a FLBA vulnerable witness training facilitator. In 2023 Alison was awarded the FLBA award for outstanding contribution due to her organisation and delivery of ICCA approved advocacy training to barristers. Alison is passionate about ensuring all parties can participate in proceedings and is creative as to what special measures might enable them to do so.
Alison has a background practising in criminal law and the Court of Protection and draws on this experience in cases involving criminal proceedings or where litigation capacity is an issue. Alison’s Court of Protection expertise covers both young people and the elderly.
Alison is instructed in surrogacy cases and was invited to take part in the Law Commission’s ongoing review of surrogacy law.
