Alex is a leading insurance practitioner, acting for major London Lloyd’s and company market insurers as well as Continental insurers on a wide range of marine, aviation and rail insurance matters.
He regularly advises on complex coverage issues involving hull, cargo, war, port risk, shipyard liability, general liability, specie and mortgagee interest policies.
With significant experience representing international insurance markets, Alex handles major casualties, collisions, salvage, and wreck removals. He is a frequent contributor to industry publications such as Lloyd’s List and recently co-presented on marine cyber risk at the IMCC. Alex has particular expertise in Notices of Abandonment (NOAs), Constructive Total Losses (CTLs), and related legal developments, having led a landmark case in this area.
Alex and his team acted for a major insurance client in the recent Russian Aviation losses trial.
He is also recognised for his work on mortgagee interest coverage, geo-seismic operators and their insurers on risk management, as well as the London market on pre-inception risk issues.
Outside of insurance, he has advised Government Agencies and numerous Crown and Overseas Dependencies on maritime issues as wide as wreck removal, pollution response, casualty response and fishing/commercial rights.
