Career

In addition to trademark registrations, patent litigation and data protection, Adolfo Athié has been actively involved in litigation before Mexican Federal Courts, Amparo (Constitutional Proceeding) for the protection of such Intellectual Property rights from counterfeiting and antitrust cases, infringement and unfair competition. In general, he also has a vast experience in administrative litigation, challenging any authority’s decision. Adolfo Athié has successfully defended domain names through international panel, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”)

Adolfo Athié has published numerous articles and essays on different topics in the United States magazine, “Privacy Law Adviser, Managing Intellectual Property, World Finance, Chambers & Partners” and The Mexican law magazines “El Foro, La Barra, el Abogado Corporativo”, among others. He was part of the working group at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property to amend the Mexican Industrial Property Law in 1999-2000 and promoted the bill to amend the Industrial Property Law in order to reduce the time needed to obtain damages. It is still pending.
