Bankruptcy & Restructuring:

■ Represented large Chinese company in connection with its $48.6 million loan to three related chapter 7 debtors. The matter involves establishing the $48.6 million loan, as well as objecting to numerous claims filed by insiders of the three debtors
■ Represented Sagamore Partners, Ltd., the owner of Sagamore, the Art Hotel, in its chapter 11 reorganization from which the debtor emerged with a plan of reorganization
■ Represented Official Creditors Committee in Cabi Downtown, LLC (Everglades by the Bay), twin 49-story Miami condominium towers with more than $200 million in debt
■ Represented The Miami International Medical Center in its chapter 11 bankruptcy case resulting in the sale of the Debtor’s medical enterprise to Variety Children’s Hospital as well as recovery of significant funds for the benefit of the estate

Financial Fraud:

■ Served as litigation management and oversight special counsel to liquidating trustee for the Thomas Petters Ponzi scheme, which resulted in $2 billion in cash-oncash victim losses. Responsibilities include creating and implementing procedures to prosecute billions of dollars in third-party litigation and claim objections, and managing such litigation
■ Represented chapter 11 Trustee for two Palm Beach hedge funds that suffered $651 million in cash-on-cash losses in the Thomas Petters Ponzi scheme; prosecuted claims for professional negligence, claims against two of the nation’s largest financial institutions for fraudulent transfer and conspiracy, and claims for clawback
■ Represented largest victim in Ponzi scheme perpetrated by Scott Rothstein and Rothstein Rosenfeldt & Adler, P.A. law firm in Fort Lauderdale
■ Represented chapter 7 trustee of a commodities and futures trading and investment entity, through which a $30+ million Ponzi scheme was perpetrated by Michael Meisner
■ Represented a group of clawback defendants in the Nevin Shapiro Ponzi bankruptcy case who were sued for more than $50 million

Commercial Litigation:

■ Represented a professional sports league in a trademark infringement, false advertising, and unfair competition action brought by a competing sports league in the Southern District of New York

Receiverships & Assignments:

■ Court appointed Mark Meland as Receiver for Innovida Companies run by Claudio Osorio. After discovering an approximately $50 million fraud, Innovida Companies ceased operations and filed chapter 11 for numerous entities. Meland was appointed the chapter 11 Trustee and liquidated tangible assets. The firm serves as litigation counsel to the chapter 7 trustee in numerous avoidance and tort actions

■ A Florida District Court appointed Peter Russin as receiver over entities located in Wisconsin and Florida. The action, brought by the Federal Trade Commission, alleged that the bad actors operated a scam that lured consumers with promises of affordable health insurance but actually provided nearly valueless ‘medical discount’ cards. The firm is representing and assisting the Receiver in taking control of the receivership entities
