Overview & History:
Maltin PR was founded 10 years ago by the former Global Head of Public Relations at Allen & Overy LLP, Iain Rodger; and the former Chairman of City PR firm Lehmann Communications, Tim Maltin.
Based at their Holborn offices in the heart of legal London and they comprise of 20 individuals.
They are regularly asked to work on many of the most major cases in the UK commercial courts, including a £200m litigation against one of the largest banks in the world, PR surrounding the repatriation of funds in a $300m international fraud and a £1.25bn claim in the commercial court arising from international sanctions. They offer clients wide ranging services to support their strategic aims throughout litigation. They also successfully control narratives, protect reputations and conduct targeted media briefings on a variety of multi-jurisdictional litigation cases, as well as those involving international banks, group action litigations, international political campaigns, high-profile regulatory and financial prosecutions, and disputes involving international corporates.
Maltin PR work discreetly and effectively to deliver your PR objectives before, during and after court hearings, CMC’s and full trials. They support your overall legal strategy as well as your ultimate communications objectives. Working with publicly available documents such as your Particulars of Claim, they can also assist with introducing witness evidence at the right time. They work closely with key journalists, providing them with background briefings and the tools to stand up complex information.
As well as maximising exposure where required, Maltin PR also assist with keeping press interest to a minimum when this is desirable. They also add antidote comments into negative online articles and assist in removing inaccurate information.
They get results quickly and relish being brought into complex projects, including those which require a highly commercial approach.
They can also promote private investigations and deploy third-party voices on behalf of clients where appropriate.
Their reputation management team works closely with high net worth individuals and corporates to protect their reputations, mitigating risks and ensuring public focus on the client’s narratives. The team is also experienced in rehabilitating damaged reputations through carefully managed strategies, including thought leadership campaigns and ‘Right to be Forgotten’ applications, as well as working closely with leading defamation lawyers.
Corporates and individuals sometimes become embroiled in sudden media storms. Clients’ reputations can suddenly be on the line, and often for things which they did not cause, and sometimes about which they were not aware until the story broke. Maltin PR help their clients to execute effective strategies to recover their global reputations, and get their side of the story heard.
Utilising a wide range of contacts in both the national, legal and client-facing trade press, they also support the PR needs of law firms. Their legal clients include full-service international law firms, as well as several of the leading, specialist law firms and chambers. They position and promote law firms and key fee earners, raising their profiles to further build and maintain the reputation and profile of the firm or set.
Law firms often ask them to work either through them or directly for their corporate clients, particularly those involved in high-stakes, complex commercial litigations and regulatory or prosecuting authority investigations. They liaise with corporate clients in a way which supports and adds value to the litigation strategy, and ensures that the PR messages outside the courtroom reinforce the strategy inside it.
