The firm is formed by 11 lawyers — 5 partners and 5 associates—, with vast experience on their professional fields. Many of F&H’s lawyers have international degrees, as well as have done internships in US and Europe. Energy & Natural Resources: Energy and Natural Resources is among the firm’s foremost strengths with more than 18 years of experience in the industry. Recent matters include advising to Eni SpA., in the process of transferring shares of its Ecuadorian oil subsidiary regarding its rights over Block 10 located at the Amazon Basin; advising Ecometals’ subsidiary Condor Gold on the division of its mining properties and a subsequent sale; assisting Fortescue Metals Group FMG with the obtaining of 32 mining concessions through an auction procedure in Ecuador; and Toachi Mining with an option agreement signed to purchase a majority holding in local company Minera La Plata.

Flor & Hurtado’s one of the principal areas of practice principal areas is Corporate/Commercial with a vast experience of almost 20 years. F&H’s recent matters include leading advice to IDB Invest on the loan agreement and structuring of a security package in the financing of the Posorja port and Interagua the company responsible for water supply and sewage in Guayaquil Ecuador; acting as local counsel to China Development Bank on a financing transaction to state entity Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador; and -again as local counsel- advising Corporación Interamericana para el Financiamiento de Infraestructura (CIFI) on the financing of a hydroelectric project.
