INTERNATIONAL WORK

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Over the last 25 years, our people have advised a wide range of clients operating in the energy & natural resources, infrastructure and shipping sectors on significant projects involving the acquisition of both onshore and offshore assets in Brazil. This includes navigating the Petrobras divestment process, where we provided counsel to IOCs and NOCs on the largest offshore asset transactions and onshore acquisitions totaling over USD 20 billion.

We have also successfully represented clients in administrative, judicial, and arbitration disputes against Petrobras, addressing issues involving sanctions, contract terminations, economic rebalancing, and restrictions on contracting with Petrobras.

Further, we have advised operators of floating platforms (FPSOs and FSOs) in major ICC arbitrations related to Brazilian pre-salt fields, focusing on contract issues including economic rebalancing and force majeure.

Our expertise extends to negotiating various agreements, including FOAs, JOAs, and asset sharing agreements over more than 20 years, involving oil exploration and production assets in Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique.

We have also advised several clients on the analysis of administrative procedures for environmental licensing, contributing to the development of solutions that address key legal issues.

Our expertise further extends to advising clients on sensitive environmental matters related to major infrastructure projects. In this context, we addressed concerns regarding contaminated or potentially contaminated areas within clients' properties as well as environmental licensing and liability.

In the field of genetic and oncology therapy research within the life sciences and healthcare sector, sector in which our team has been practicing for over 12 years, we provided specialized guidance to a leading U.S. biopharmaceutical company, collaborating on corporate strategies and ensuring regulatory compliance for innovative clinical trials conducted in Brazil.

Additionally, we work to expand access to medications for rare diseases by developing initiatives aimed at increasing availability on behalf of a prominent global pharmaceutical company. We have refined market entry strategies, forged strategic alliances, and implemented measures that significantly enhance the accessibility of vital treatments in Brazil.

Through our partnership with a major pharmaceutical corporation, and in a multisectoral and multidisciplinary effort, we provided assistance in formulating responsible policies regarding generative artificial intelligence. We helped them establish clear guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance while promoting the ethical use of innovative technology across all operations.

We are also proud to collaborate with a large investment fund and a Brazilian company focused on energy transition, health, and well-being. Our joint efforts aim to drive a successful decarbonization journey by developing and implementing innovative programs to generate and offset carbon credits, adhering to principles of sustainability and regeneration.
