Alexandre Bittencourt Calmon

Alexandre is a highly skilled lawyer with extensive experience spanning the energy, oil, natural gas, and mining industries. He focuses his practice on contractual, regulatory, and transactional matters, serving clients within the infrastructure, energy, and natural resources sectors. In addition to his strong regulatory and contractual expertise, Alexandre possesses considerable experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), having provided counsel on some of Brazil's largest energy transactions.

Alexandre brings extensive expertise in oil and gas concession contracts, covering both onshore and offshore natural areas, production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements (JOAs), farm-in and farm-out operations, and oil marketing contracts. He is well-versed in natural gas regulatory issues, including transportation and purchase contracts, and is actively engaged in shaping the natural gas market in Brazil.

Throughout his career, Alexandre has played a pivotal role in acquisitions totaling over $15 billion, navigating complex regulatory discussions including the regulatory framework for the world's largest ethanol pipeline, and overseeing the acquisition and structuring of various mining projects domestically and internationally involving critical minerals, gold, iron ore, manganese, potassium, and diamonds. Additionally, he has advised on pioneering carbon capture and storage projects.

Alexandre has also authored several publications on oil and gas, energy transition, and carbon capture while delivering lectures for public and private institutions both in Brazil and abroad. He is also actively involved in initiatives providing free legal assistance to minorities and vulnerable populations, championing diversity in the legal services market in Brazil.
