It offers a wide range of specialist services with 16 Law Society of Scotland accredited specialists, a Solicitor Advocacy Unit with seven solicitor advocates and cross-border working with seven dual-qualified solicitors.
In 2019, Anderson Strathern won both Firm of the Year – Scottish Independents and Employment Team of the Year at The Herald Law Awards of Scotland after impressing the judges with both its attention to financial management and its commitment to staff wellbeing. It has also been shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year and Support Team of the Year (for its HR Plus service) at the upcoming Scottish Legal Awards 2020.
In July 2020, two of Anderson Strathern’s up and coming private client solicitors achieved Worldwide Excellence Awards from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
The firm was recognised as the legal employer of choice in Scotland when it won the Employer of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards 2016. It was awarded the IIP Young People Accreditation in 2015. Alongside this, the firm became one of the first law firms in Scotland to become an accredited living wage employer and the first to sign the Scottish Government’s Business Pledge.
Anderson Strathern celebrated its 20 year anniversary as an Investor in People in September 2018. The firm was the first to achieve the double success of Investors in Young People Gold and Investors in People Gold accreditations, achieving Investors in People (IIP) Gold Accreditation in 2011, the highest level of recognition for the championing of best practice in the development and management of all of its employees.

Anderson Strathern is the only firm in Scotland currently appointed to all six lots of the Scottish Government / Procurement Legal Services Framework and to all six lots of the Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC) Framework and its oldest client, Buccleuch Estates, has been with the firm since its inception, over 270 years ago. It is appointed to all six lots of the City of Edinburgh Council Legal Services Framework and is the sole supplier of legal services to the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

Anderson Strathern is a member of the Association of European Lawyers with associated offices throughout all major European jurisdictions. The firm specialises in acting for inward investors including those based in China, India, and the US. In June 2019, Anderson Strathern was selected as the first Scottish legal firm to join the Meritas global network, which consists of over 180 firms from over 90 countries globally.
In the first half of 2020 the firm increased its commercial real estate, private client and residential property offerings with the arrivals of partners Euan Mellor in the commercial real estate team and Siobhan McGuigan, who is heading up the firm’s recently expanded private client offering in Glasgow, as well as award winning residential property specialist, director Jemma Richardson, who is the deputy head of the firm’s residential team. Further, at the end of 2019 the firm agreed a bolt-on deal with specialist Glasgow law practice Hardy Macphail that saw it merge operations within Anderson Strathern’s Glasgow office. The firm is expected to actively recruit more talent across a variety of roles and practice areas to match increasing productivity levels.
