The Chambers Europe 2022 guide and legal rankings saw 6,639 departments rankings and 13725 lawyers ranked.

This edition of the guide and legal rankings also ranks 1,437 unique law firms, across 52 jurisdictions and 3 regions.

Who are the law firms with the highest number of department rankings in Chambers Europe 2022?

The law firm CMS saw the highest number of departments ranked, with 185 in total.

These legal rankings are spread across 26 unique countries and reflect the firm's broad legal services and offering and showcase an impressive expanse of offices, spanning across Europe from the UK to Spain and to Poland and Romania.

The next sees Clifford Chance and DLA Piper, followed closely by Baker McKenzie and Allen & Overy.

Clifford Chance and DLA Piper each achieved 166 rankings in the guide for 2022. Baker McKenzie achieved 162 and Allen & Overy 158.

DLA Piper also saw the greatest increase in the number of rankings among the top law firms, gaining 10 department rankings over the course of our research.

Local European law firms Wolf Theiss and Schoenherr each achieved 58 and 56 rankings respectively in the Chambers Europe 2022 guide. Their networks span Central Eastern Europe with key hubs in Vienna.

Local Spanish law firm Cuatrecasas continues to impress with 52 legal rankings, followed closely by Garrigues and Uria Menendez, each with 50 departments ranked.

How has Chambers continued to grow its coverage and analysis of the European legal market?

For the 2022 edition of the Chambers Europe guide, Chambers introduced 108 new departments and 40 new, unique law firms to the guide, continuing to expand its coverage across the continent, providing key ranking and analysis of the European legal market to those working in the legal profession.
