Zulfikar practices across all areas of construction, engineering and energy sectors in both the domestic and international context, with a special focus on large-scale, high-value and complex international projects. He has experience of dealing with matters in arbitration, litigation, adjudication and mediation. He has represented employers, architects, contractors, sub-contractors, developers, funders, insurers, individuals and others. He has also advised in the context of ongoing major projects and is often asked provide tactical advice. Zulfikar has appeared in numerous court and arbitration hearings as leading and junior counsel including multiple trials. He has advised and acted in arbitrations conducted under various arbitral rules and governing laws in different jurisdictions and been instructed in High Court applications relating to the Arbitration Act 1996. His international arbitration experiences include major hearings in London, the Middle East (UAE and beyond), Singapore, Hong Kong and the Bahamas. Recent experiences include, amongst others, disputes relating to: the construction of a major hospital; a data centre; wastewater facilities; roads with associated infrastructure; airport facilities; oil refinery renovation; semi-submersible oil rig renovation; hotels and associated facilities; mining plants; waste processing plants; power plants; and PFI disputes. Zulfikar has also acted as an ICC arbitrator and takes arbitral appointments.
