Zhenyu Xu

Career

Zhenyu Xu is a qualified Chinese patent attorney with experience in IP since 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree (BEng & MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Soochow University in China. He also earned an LL.M. in International Studies in IP Law and Data Law from Technische Universität, Dresden. During his legal studies, he specialized in European patent law with a focus on patent claim interpretation before the EPO

Before joining BDPE, Zhenyu held roles as a Patent Counsel at POSITEC and SIEMENS, where he gained substantial experience and expertise in handling patent applications, especially in drafting and prosecution before the CNIPA, and became proficient in IP risk management, particularly in patent freedom-to-operate analysis for international projects. Zhenyu’s expertise spans across mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, AI, and robotics.

At BDPE, Zhenyu assists our German and European patent attorneys in providing clients top services in IP patent litigation in Germany and Europe. He joined BDPE in 2025 as a Patent Engineer and is currently trained to become a European Patent Attorney. While pursuing his LL.M., he also gained hands-on experience as a part-time patent trainee at BDPE.

Zhenyu is fluent in both Mandarin and English.
