Winston Alburqueuque joined VGC Abogados as a partner in 2013, following a distinguished professional career that began at Vergara y Cía, where he spent 17 years advising on mining, water and energy matters. He has supported the development of a wide range of domestic and foreign investment projects, from exploration through to implementation. He serves as an adviser to the Consejo Minero and is the author of numerous publications on environmental law, energy and natural resources. He has been recognised by Chambers and Partners Latin America, The Legal 500, Leaders League and Best Lawyers. He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.
At VGC Abogados he leads the Natural Resources team. He advises clients on the full spectrum of mining law matters, water rights consultancy and energy projects. He is recognised for his work advising on project development from exploration through to closure, as well as for his regulatory expertise in the mining and energy sectors.
Winston serves as an advisor to the Mining Council.
He is a professor of mining law of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In 2006 he implemented the chair of natural resources that he still teaches to this day. In addition, he is a professor of the LLM of the same university and Director of the Mining and Water Master Programs of the Universidad Finis Terrae.
He has been distinguished for his achievements as a Leading Individual in Chambers and Partners Latin America for the Energy and Natural Resources categories and in Who´s Who Legal as an expert in mining and water law.
