Trial lawyer Wayne Travell's primary goal is to develop a strong working relationship with his business clients. Together, they design dispute-resolution strategies tailored to the company's business and risk-mitigation objectives. He understands that business disputes are inevitable and approaches them with flexibility, whether it’s going "all-in" on bet-the-business, high-stakes litigation or ,more often, developing solutions benefiting both parties, particularly where the parties may need to live and work in the same industry.
Wayne collaborates closely with owners of privately held businesses, general counsel, and senior executives of publicly traded companies. This collaboration helps him understand their industries and recommend solutions aligned with their strategic goals. Wayne provides clients with impartial assessments of their circumstances, guiding them towards successful dispute resolutions.
With more than four decades of trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts across Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and beyond, Wayne is a seasoned advocate. He’s also skilled in arbitration and mediation, achieving favorable results for his clients before the American Arbitration Association, JAMS/Endispute, and other private arbitration panels. Additionally, Wayne frequently serves as local counsel in federal and state courts in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and has been lead trial counsel in Chancery Courts in Delaware and in New Jersey.
Before joining Hirschler, Wayne co-founded Leach Travell and was a partner at Venable LLP (in its McLean office) and at Tucker Flyer P.C. in Washington, D.C. From 2018 through 2021, he served as an elected member of the Virginia State Bar Council for the 19th Judicial Circuit.
